REMOVING YOUR VW ENGINE







Disconnect the battery.


Remove the Air Cleaner and Breather Pipe.


Remove Heater Hoses.


Remove Generator/Alternator Wires.


Remove the Coil, Choke and Oil pressure switch leads and lift the wiring out of the compartment and rest on boot lid or something.


Remove the accelerator wire and push through the fan housing.


Jack up car and place on 2 jack stands.


Disconnect the lower fuel pipe and block it off.


Disconnect both heater box cables. (8 mm spanner)


Place garage jack under engine sump.


Remove lower engine nuts. (17 mm spanner)


Remove upper engine nuts. (17 mm spanner)


Grab tailpipes or muffler and jiggle engine up and down. – Lower floor jack ever so slightly.


Remove throttle cable completely from fan housing.


Pull the engine back away from the transmission.


Slowly lower engine to the ground – pull back further if necessary.


Tilt the engine back on its heater pipes and remove the jack.


Jack car up high enough to get engine out from underneath.


Pull out engine – Lower car down again – Your DONE!


Do the exact opposite to put the engine back in.
